How I clear my head when I feel overwhelmed

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel completely overwhelmed by all the stuff that I need to do, the decisions I need to make, the work that needs completing and I just don’t seem to focus properly on anything. Today is a day like that.

The pressure is coming from everywhere. People need answers you don’t quite have. So you cancel your lunch appointment thinking you can’t spare this extra time socializing whilst you have so much on your plate.

Your brain is about to explode!

Have you ever felt this way?

So, if you have, what do you do to calm your mind, to regain your focus? Meditate, go for a walk? Or maybe you just run around like a chicken without its head. Is that so?

There is no point pushing hard trying to get on top of things when you’re clearly not. It just makes things worse.

I know some people go and have a body massage. That’s great at the end of the week when you have nothing else planned and you can go home shortly afterwards and straight to bed. I love that too. But it’s pretty impractical to have a massage in the middle of a workday. First, you feel like a marshmallow. Second, your hair is all messy and your make up messed up, so you need extra time to make yourself look presentable again. If you a man, you are spared the latter. Lucky you!

Having said that,  I agree that relaxing your body is one of the best ways to relax your mind.

So me? I go for a stretch. You’re fully clothed, no oil, no sweat, no need for a shower afterwards and if you don’t want to talk with your therapist during the session, you don’t have to. You can just lie there and think….or not think at all and meditate. Whatever suits you.

Getting stretched relaxes me. It clears my head and relaxes my body, all in one swoop!
After the session, I get dressed and go back to work. I am rejuvenated. I’m energized. I can think again. I can make decisions. Everything is clear again. It’s fantastic!

Now, that’s my experience. What do you do to relax and clear your head?
